How it worksA Solar PV (photovoltaic) system consists of solar panels, an inverter, isolators and a generation metre that convert sunlight and daylight into electricity which can be used in the home or exported into the Grid. PV only requires daylight rather than direct sunlight - ideal for most UK locations. When light shines on a solar panel it creates an electric field across layers of silicon in the cell, causing electricity to flow. Power is then used straight away or linked back into the National Power Grid. PV can be used on buildings with roofs or walls that face within 90 degrees of south, with no other buildings or large trees over shadowing it. If the roof surface is in shade for parts of the day, this will produce less electricity. There are a variety of panels from conventional ones that fit onto a roof, or panels that are integrated into a roof as tiles. You can also have transparent panels that can be used on conservatories or glass to provide shading as well as generating electricity. Working with several panel manufacturers, we can supply and fit a wide range of systems to suit your property and budget. Our Consultants survey the property and provide a wrtten quotation along with all the technical reports which will include accurate figures of how much energy your solar system will provide - so that you can make your investment based on actual facts. |
